WINNER EMERGES AT RUMUEME YOUTH EMPOWERMENT CUP*
Captain of Rumueme FC being handed the trophy
The entire Rumueme Kingdom came alive during the Easter celebration at the grand finale of the Rumueme Youth Empowerment Cup as two grassroots teams clashed in an intriguing football encounter that generated great enthusiasm and ecstasy among spectators and football enthusiasts.
The competition came on the heels of an ongoing economic empowerment programme by the Nsirim Royal Family, which aims to tackle youth unemployment and improve the living conditions of Rumueme youths.
Players of the two finalist teams, Rumueme United and Rumueme FC, were selected from the various communities of Rumueme Kingdom, namely Rumukpakani, Rumuchida, Oro-Owo, Ibemerum, Oro-Azi, Oro-Agbolu, Mgbu-Oroazi, Eligbam, and Oro-akwor.
The youth empowerment football match ended in a tensed 1-0 victory in favour of Rumueme FC.
A striking sensation of Rumueme FC, Woke Bright, incredibly utilized a counter-attack from the opponent to score the deciding lone goal in the match, firing a shot within the perimeters of the 18-yard box to put his side in the lead in the first half.
Besides the lone goal, both teams created enough chances but failed to capitalize and convert them into goals in an electrifying atmosphere as fans surrounded the pitch with high stakes.
Passionate supporters from the various communities of Rumueme Kingdom cheered up their preferred players, as the game went on, with cacophony of local drums, traditional songs, and chants that echoed across the football pitch of the School of Health, Rumueme.
The Rumueme Youth Empowerment Cup, with the theme "Empowering the Community for the Future," was sponsored by the Nsirim Royal Family to foster unity, togetherness, and a sense of belonging among Rumueme youth, while also providing them with a platform to showcase their football talents and skills.
Rumueme FC clinched the trophy with a huge cash reward, while Rumueme United also went home with a cash reward and other consolation prizes.
Rumueme FC's central mid-field defender, Big-Tiger Victor Chukwu, emerged as the best player of the competition, with a cash reward and a golden boot statue.
Speaking at the end of the match, the captain of the winning team, Gabriel Chima, attributed their victory to diligence, teamwork, and passion for football.
He dedicated the victory to both teams and all communities of Rumueme Kingdom, in the spirit of sportsmanship, saying that there is no victor, no vanquished.
Gabriel Chima expressed appreciation to the Nsirim Royal Family for creating such a platform to unite the youths of Rumueme Kingdom while empowering them economically.
On his part, the best player of the competition, Big-Tiger Victor Chukwu, promised to leverage his performance at the competition to advance his football skills and possibly pursue a career in the game.
Speaking while presenting prizes and decorating the winning team, the Crown Prince of Rumueme Kingdom, Henry Nyeche Nsirim, praised the huge turnout at the competition, saying it shows that there is neither division norii segregation among theIi people of the various communities of Rumueme Kingdom.
He assured that the Nsirim Royal Family would embark on more of such initiatives that will further promote peaceful co-existence among communities ofI Rumueme Kingdom.
The Crown Prince also lauded both teams for displaying amazing football skills, urging them to leverage the platform to advance their talent and probably pursue a career in football.
