Managing director OGAMCO Group of Companies HIGH Chief Christopher Okonkwo

A sports philanthropist,  High Chief Christopher Okonkwo has backed the decision of Confederation of African football to strip Terenga lions of Senegal the Afcon title and declared Morocco new champions of Africa.

Chief Christopher Okonkwo in an interview with Barry global sports said what the Senegalese national team did during the final of the last AFCON was shameful and disgraceful where they walked out of the pitch when the center referee awarded a penalty against them on the stroke of regulation time .

Christopher Okonkwo who is  a member of the board of trustees , Portharcourt club 1928 said the action of Senegalese players was unprofessional and they deserved to be penalized by CAF

According to him, what Senegal did has never happened in the history of African football.

They brought shame to African football by behaving as if they were children playing primary school football.

The punishment meted out to Senegal by stripping them of the AFCON title will serve as deterrent to other African teams in subsequent Afcon tournaments , adding that they violated the rules of African football and CAF did the right thing by awarding the Afcon final match to Morocco.

Speaking further on the decision of FIFA to throw out Nigeria petition against DR Congo over allegation of fielding ineligible players during the recent world cup play offs in Morocco last year, the Managing director of Ogamco group of companies took a swipe at the leadership of Nigeria football federation for attempting to qualify for the world cup through the back door.

The former vice president of Portharcourt club 1928 said it's a shame that the super eagles would not beat DR Congo on the pitch .

Chief Christopher Okonkwo who also served as captain tennis section of Portharcourt club called on the NFF to jettison the idea of appealing the verdict of FIFA and begin early preparation for the 2030 world cup.

He added that the entire football structure in Nigeria should be overhauled especially the nation's domestic league , adding that it's time the country begins to have qualified and quality football administrators at both the NFF and club level.
