Professor Onyige proffers Solutions to Community conflicts

The Center for peace and security studies at University of Portharcourt  is advising Communities in the Niger delta to always explore dialogue in resolving disputes.

The Director of the center for peace and security studies at University of Portharcourt  Professor Chioma Onyige gave the advice in an interview with our correspondent.

Professor Chioma Onyige advised rural communities in the Niger delta against believing in hear -say to take laws into their hands to cause violence without doing their findings 



This she said prompted the center for peace and Security studies to hold a  seminar in collaboration with a remediation agency on how to resolve conflicts and broker peace



Professor Chioma Onyige also said the consequences of conflicts are always very destructive to the communities , adding that it's those that are innocent that becomes victims 


She advised the youths to always verify the authenticity of the information they received before resorting to violence, pointing out that they should always report to the relevant authorities and figure out ways of resolving the matter amicably without rancour and acrimony
