The Gokana League of Registered Engineers (GOLREN) has appointed a new set of leaders to pilot the affairs of the association following its general meeting held on December 27, 2025, in Deken, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.


The well-attended meeting brought together professional engineers of Gokana origin across various engineering disciplines, all duly registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).


At the end of the meeting, the following officers were appointed to lead the association: Engr. Tombari Kiabon as President; Engr. Batombari Justice Girigiri as Secretary; Engr. Dr. Brownson Bealo as Director of Information; Engr. Dr. Joseph Aadum as Director of Finance; and Engr. Mrs. Barikuma Lekien-Teeyor as Director of Welfare.


In his acceptance speech, the newly appointed President, Engr. Tombari Kiabon, expressed gratitude to members of the league for the confidence reposed in him and his team. He pledged to lay a solid foundation that would strengthen the association and reposition it for greater relevance and impact in Gokana and beyond.


 Engr. Kiabon also congratulated one of its members, Sir Engr. Barivure Poni, FNSE, on his recent elevation to the prestigious status of Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).


 He described the honour as well deserved, praising Sir Poni’s commitment to the engineering profession and his outstanding service to humanity.


In a statement made available to journalists, the Secretary of the league, Engr. Batombari Justice Girigiri, explained that GOLREN is an association exclusively for COREN-registered engineers from Gokana. According to him, the league is committed to contributing meaningfully to the development of Gokana by deploying the collective professional expertise of its members.


He further called on government agencies, private sector players, and other stakeholders in infrastructure development to always engage the services of qualified and registered engineers, stressing that such collaboration would help eliminate quackery and promote safety, quality, and sustainability in engineering projects.
