Rivers state governor Sir Similaiyi Fubara has promised to revamp and revive the governor's cup golf championship from the state of Comatose.



Governor Fubara made the promise at the closing ceremony of the sixth edition of CIO golf championship sponsored by Chief executive officer of Keves Global Limited 



The governor said his administration is committed to supporting grassroots sports development especially the game of golf which he will provide the basic support required to ensure more participation in the sport so as to popularize the game 


Governor Fubara however took a swipe at those remarketing Rivers state by circulating negatively in the media due to their selfish political interest, arguing that Rivers state is very peaceful and a safe haven for investors.

He  explained that the huge amount of golfers who traveled from other parts of the part of Africa to participate in the CIO golf competition indicates that Rivers state is in tranquility and called on the participants in the tourney to narrate their experience and wonderful moments and time they had in Porthacourt to their friends when they return back to their various climes.



The governor also praised the sponsor of the tournament Chief Ikenna Okafor to his noble gesture towards the development of golf in Nigeria and Africa at large will according to his Excellency will fast track the growth of the sport in Rivers state
