The golf section of  Porthacourt club 1928 went agog   at the weekend  as golfers within the south south and beyond turned out en mass to participate in the Timson Okah 's captain day golf championship organized to mark the end of his two years tenure as captain of the golf section of Porthacourt club


As at 7am, all the participants were already at the golf section, Porthacourt club 1928 to compete in the one day tournament played as shot gun where all those competing in the tourney will tee off at the same time , with former governor of Rivers state  Sir Celestine Omehia performing the ceremonial tee off.


After an 18 round  of golf on the course, Mr Ngere Abere emerged the overall winner of the tournament with  the best gross score in the tourney which attracted Chief Ikenna Okafor , Adokiye Ikpoki,  Joe Poroma,    GOC of six division of Nigeria Army Major General E. E. Emekah and other notable personalities including outgoing captain Timson and his siblings Victor Okah and Faithful Okah

Speaking to journalists after the presentation of prizes to winners  of the various categories, Chairman of the organizing committee Engineer Asuzu Chubuikem expressed satisfaction with the turn out of participants for the event, adding that the notable personalities and dignitaries that participated in the tournament made the occasion memorable and remarkable.


Engineer Asuzu Chubuikem heaped praises on the out-going captain Timson Okah for taking the golf section to another following the  great achievement recorded under his tenure .


He said the tournament offered the outgoing captain of the golf section of Porthacourt club Timson Okah to highlight the great achievements recorded   under his tenure.


According to him , our captain has done well and his name will remain memorable in the annals of the golf section of Porthacourt club.

He remarked that Timson Okah is not  just a captain on the course but also outside the golf course , adding that he had a good and cordial relationship with club members .


On his part, out going captain, golf section of Porthacourt club Timson Okah thanked members of the golf section of Porthacourt club for their support which made him succeed in his administration, particularly his exxo members who worked cordially with him to take the  golf section to the next level
