Winner of CIO international open Golf Championship : Francis Epe of Ikoyi golf club ,Lagos








The  Python international golf club In Porthacourt went agog at the weekend as notable dignitaries from far and wide trooped out in their large numbers to witness the closing ceremony and presentation of prizes to winners at the sixth edition of  CIO international golf championship 


Prominent among the notable personalities in attendance during the closing ceremony of the remarkable and memorable event was his Excellency, Rivers state Governor Sir Similaiyi Fubara and GOC, six divisions  of Nigeria Army major General E. E. Emekah and many others


After one week round of competitive golfing at the Python International golf club, Francis Epe of Ikoye golf club emerged the overall winner of the tournament in the pros category to cart home the twenty thousand dollars prize money earmarked for the  overall winner 


Speaking to newsmen moments after the presentation of prizes , Francis Epe expressed joy  for coming tops in the championship, adding that he has competed in the championship on several occasions but failed to win.


He said two years ago he was on the verge of winning the tournament and suddenly Gift Willie over took him and eventually won the tournament 

Though, last year he didn't do well but made up his mind to win the CIO open this year "he said 


According to him, I decided to play outside the shores of Nigeria and start training hard and when the CiO open tees off, he did exceptionally well to clinch the top prize.


The seasoned Nigeria Professional golfer further praised the sponsor of the tournament,Chief Ikenna Okafor for bringing safari tour to Nigeria, adding that in the next five years, Nigeria pros will reach the summit of their career by competing in major tours abroad
