The executive director of Professional golfers Association of Nigeria DR Tony Philmoore has described the game of golf as a major employer of labour across the world 


DR Tony Philmoore stated this when the leadership of the Nigeria Union of journalist in Rivers state paid him a courtesy visit at the golf section of Porthacourt club 1928.


DR Philmoore  pointed out that professional golfers play the game for money and when they compete in international tournaments ,they are opportune to earn in hard currencies which helps them grow in the sport


According to DR Philmoore, professional golfers in the PGAN will be competing in one of the biggest tournament in West African here in the garden city of Porthacourt.


The Tournament is sponsored by one of the life vice presidents of  Professional golfers association of Nigeria in the person of Chief Ikenna Okafor and he has been very supportive to PGAN 


The prize money for the tournament is fifty thousand naira: said the former Commissioner in Rivers state service commission.


The two executive chairman of Degema local government area in Rivers state however called on companies and well meaning individuals in the country to continue to bankroll the sport, saying that such Sponsorship will go along way to execell in their careers.


He boasted that the country is blessed with talented golfers that if given the needed  support will bring honours and pride to the country 

In his own remarks, chairman of Nigeria Union of journalists in Rivers state Paul Bazia said the union will partner with professional golfers association of Nigeria to the organization adequate publicity
