Former governor of Rivers state Sir Celestine Omehia is calling on the Rivers state government to revamp the governor's cup golf championship from the state of comatose
Sir Celestine Omehia made the call while speaking to newsmen in Porthacourt recently

Sir Celestine Omehia who sponsored the governor's cup golf championship in 2007 during his reign as governor of Rivers state said the tournament has been in the doldrums over the years and the time has come for the state government to bring it back to life
He said the tournament offers golfers in Rivers state the especially the professional golfers to earn big from the sport and enables the amateurs to sharpen their skills.
Omehia who is now the chairman of Rivers state amateur golf Association said bringing back the governor's cup is his top priority and will reach out to the government if the state to ensure the tournament is brought back to life .
The former commissioner for education in Rivers state his administration as chairman of the state amateur golf association will work tirelessly to ensure golfers in the state play more tournaments to keep the sport on stream in the state
