International tennis coaching courses commence In pH

A  four day  international tennis coaching course tagged Professional tennis registry course has commenced in Porthacourt  with participants drawn from  West African and  parts of the world


Speaking exclusively to sportsmaster   at  day one of the program taking place at the tennis Section of Porthacourt club , 1928 PTR coach Abel Ubiebi said the course will enable participants to upgrade their coaching methods and learn how to nurture and groom tennis stars in the nearest future .


Abel Ubiebi said the program will help the participants to team their players how to be a better tennis player 


According to him, there are standard ways of coaching which makes it easier for the players to understand 


The participants will know what is called progression in tennis which is how players are going to progress from stage one to two until they become professional players'.said the international tennis instructor.


Abel Ubiebi who is a certified PTR coach  further explained that the participants will be taught ten and under which is for kids on day one and day two , adding that on day three,  the coaches participating in the clinic will undergo lectures on eleven to seventeen and final day which is day four ,   will write their exams and obtain certificates.


Abel Ubiebi however called for more funding and sponsorship for the game of tennis in the country 


He lamented that lack of sponsorship is the major factor militating against the development of tennis in Nigeria which has adversely limited the chances of young talented players to hit the limelight from obscurity.



On his part. ITF and PTR certified coach Lookman Ajibose  said the Professional tennis registry coaching course will help the participants to enhance their coaching skills and have a better knowledge of grooming young talented players to stardom



Lookman Ajibose said the entry fee for the course is six hundred and fifty thousand naira which according to him is cheaper when compared to what is obtainable in other part of the world, adding that grassroots coaches should take advantage of the opportunity and participate in the course
