Tennis is a lucrative sport that most international players in the mould of Carlos Alvarez, Novak Njokovic and Rafael Nadal have turned it into their goldmine 



But while some players play  tennis as a career, some players especially the elites play it as a hubby to keep fit


One of such is Portharcourt based tennis enthusiast  MR David Dugo who plays tennis for leisure to keep fit and remain healthy.


David Dugo, a staff of Oando Energy resources limited (Formerly AGIP) told Barry global news in an exclusive interview that one of the benefits of playing tennis is to keep fit and stay healthy.

According to him, the game gives me the opportunity to exercise and keep fit 


It also provides the platform to fraternize with other tennis players and make new friends especially within the tennis fraternity in Nigeria.


"As a member of Oando Tennis club, Portharcourt club tennis section and Renaissance energy club, we travel far and wild to play with other tennis clubs which offers us the opportunity to meet new people.


When asked by Barry Global news if the game of tennis is growing in Rivers State,  David Dugo who hails from brass , Bayelsa state said though the sport is growing among elitist tennis clubs such as  Renaissance energy club(Formerly Shell club) and Portharcourt club 1928 tennis section and others where the sport is on stream with several tennis tournaments being played week in and week out

He particularly commended Igo Weli of Renaissance energy for  sponsoring a tournament for members of the club, adding that the tourney has been helpful to keep the game on stream and strengthen competitive tennis among members.


David Dugo also showered encomium on Chief Ikenna Okafor, chief executive officer of Kelves Global limited for encouraging the growth of grassroots tennis development by staging a  catch them young program through the Kodian tennis foundation.
